Operating System: Windows 9x and above Sun Solaris 8 and above Linux Mac OSX v10.x MacOS 9.x: Protex does not work with Mac OS 9 or lower. You should use BioQUEST 's Genetics Construction Kit instead. Java Version: Java 1.4.0 or higher. Instructions for running Protex -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Click on the binary.zip under protex. 2. Save the "binary.zip", file on your computer when prompted. 3. Once the download is complete go to the folder in which you saved the "binary.zip" file. 4. Extract the contents of “binary.zip”. 5. Open the folder in which you extracted the contents. 6. You will find bin folder. 7. Under the bin folder you will find "protex_alpha.jar". 8. Double-click the "protex_alpha.jar" file. a. Windows will not display the .jar extension. b. On Linux, you may have to use the command java -jar protex_alpha.jar. Reporting bugs, etc. --------------------- If you have installation questions or need help troubleshooting the Protex, Submit your bug reports to: mgx@cs.umb.edu When reporting bugs, please include the following in your email - Subject: Bug - include your system type - version number of this software (which can be obtained by clicking 'Help' menu, then 'About Protex' submenu). - how to repeat the bug - a log of the error messages (if any) reported by the underlying OS Protex Source code and resources --------------------------------- Source code and resources for Protex is available at “source.zip” link under protex.
